Who we are;
We are a group of local volunteers, working in conjunction with Ceredigion County Council, and the RSPCA .
Cwmtydu is a recognised pupping beach.
Our journey began in 2001 with a mission to educate and raise awareness about these magnificent creatures through seal watches, and educational conservation talks.
We are committed to protecting and preserving the natural habitat of the seals, ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
We have logged in excess of 2000 hours and are able to identify individual females using their unique markings on their necks.
Sadly recent years has seen an increase in visitors and with it an increase in disturbance of the seals during pupping season, so we have become involved in pup rescues when required.
Wales does not have seal hospital at present. We are currently looking at how we can change this.

The group began in 2001, after a petition signed by over 300 people was presented to the local council, requesting a sign restricting the public's access to the beach, during the pupping season.
In 2002, the council put up a sign but it was of little help in protecting the pups from the public.
In 2003 we had three pups, the first being born in one of the caves early September, and hardly seen on the beach. The other two were born about the 7th, and 10th of September, and they were on the beach from day one.
The females stay with the pups feeding them on their fat rich milk for about 18 days. After that the pups are left on their own.
